Net Neutrality

Net neutrality sign
Hey there reader! Do you have a blog or other website? Is it Google or Facebook? If not, you might be interested in a little idea called net neutrality. Today websites, Internet users and other activists will be taking action to raise awareness about and support for it.
Net neutrality prevents Internet Service Providers (Comcast, Verizon, AT&T, etc) from charging websites and apps attracting traffic. ISPs opposing neutrality want to fee, slow load time, and even block content of those unwilling to pay.
This would make it even harder for smaller businesses to grow, and essentially rewards big businesses for already being wealthy enough to pay just to load. Not only this, but much like in other industries, when there are only so many visibly outlets and they get bought by each other, you’re left with only so many views, voices, opinions, and ideas.
For more info, watch this Last Week Tonight clip [NSFW language] and check out Battle for the Net where those in the U.S. can write to the Federal Communications Commission and Congress!

  1. How infuriating. It seems that everything that gives the little girl or guy a break is taken away in homage to the almighty $. I’m not in the US so I can’t write to Congress but I’ll be keeping a close eye on this.
