Don’t Forget About Flint

In early 2014, city officials of Flint, Michigan switched the city’s water supply to the Flint River in effort to save money. Soon afterwards residents voiced concerns about the quality of the water of which photos have gone viral and in which bacteria and possible carcinogens have been found.

A State of Emergency was declared and many prominent figures helped bring national attention to the crisis, but researchers say the water is still unsafe and bottled water may not be as accessible after the initial donations.

The Community Foundation of Greater Flint focuses on the kids effected and funds given until the end of the year are being matched by the C.S. Mott Foundation. You can also help the United Way of Genesee County and find resources and information at Help For Flint.
